The 10 Greatest Softball Pitchers of All Time

Jennie Finch may be the most popular softball player of all time, but the stats in the record books of American softball actually show that she may not be the greatest pitcher, as some may assume. If Finch’s record only ranks her sixth in softball pitching records, then who are the other pitching greats?
This top 10 list of the greatest American softball pitchers of all time is based on several criteria. Obviously, the softball players on this list have won a lot of games: They all have ERAs of 1.10 or lower. Each pitcher has at least 700 career strikeouts. Every one of the pitchers who made this list had a career that spanned more than ten years in fastpitch. Though many players on the list played softball professionally, this opportunity did not exist for legends of an earlier era. So, those with a stellar amateur career were duly considered for inclusion on this roster. Also, the accuracy and availability of modern-day statistics favor modern day pitchers.
These experience level of players on this list varies from pitching in the Women’s College World Series (WCWS) to the Olympics, and from pitching on amateur teams like the Raybestos Brakettes to National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) teams like the Chicago Bandits. But they all have one thing in common: They can throw a ball like no other.
Every pitcher on this list is either an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall-Of-Famer and/or has received multiple awards/honors for her accomplishments.
